T-Bond Rates Climb Higher

Monday, stocks rose 1.6% in Asia, 1.0% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners fell 1%. The Dow, NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE indices closed above 52,000, 27,000, 7700, and 24,000 respectively. The NASDAQ logged a record high close. IBM ended above 230.

Tuesday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia but ended little changed in Europe and fell slightly in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners rose four times that amount. The Dow ended below 52,000. The NASDAQ logged a record high close.

Wednesday, stocks ended little changed in Asia but closed down 0.4% in Europe and 0.8% in the U.S. on 18B shares traded. The VIX rose 7% to end at 15.18. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to end at 5.11. Precious metals fell 3% and their miners lost 4%. The NASDAQ and NYSE ended below their 27,000 and 24,000 benchmarks respectively.
Thursday, stocks fell 1.0% in Asia, 0.5% in Europe, and slightly in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners fell 1%. IBM closed below its 230 benchmark.
Friday, stocks rose 0.8% in Asia, 0.3% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on 15B shares traded. The VIX fell 5% to end at 14.87. Precious metals gained 1%. The NASDAQ closed above 27,000. Apple ended above its 340 benchmark.
