FOMC Raises Rates

Monday, stocks fell 1.1% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe and the U.S. on 16B shares traded. The VIX rose 8% to end at 17.10. Precious metals lost 2% and their miner declined 3%.

Tuesday, stocks lost 0.8% in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, and 0.3% in the U.S. on 16B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield ended at 5.00. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 indices ended below their 26,000 and 7600 levels respectively.

Wednesday, stocks gained 0.6% in Asia and 0.4% in Europe but lost 0.8% in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners lost 1%. The Dow and NYSE indices closed below their respective 52,000 and 24,000 benchmarks. IBM closed below 240. The FOMC announced that it raised interest rates.

Thursday, stocks ended little changed in Asia but gained 0.9% in Europe and 0.7% in the U.S. on 18B shares traded. The VIX dropped 13% to close at 15.44. Precious metals and their miners gained 3%.  The NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE indices ended above their 26,000, 7600, and 24,000 levels respectively.

Friday, stocks rose 1.0% in Asia but fell 1.1% in Europe and 0.4% in the U.S. on 26B shares traded. Precious metals gained 1.0%.
