Bitcoin Rises above $30,000

Monday, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia, rose 0.5% in Europe, and gained 0.3% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield advanced 4% to close at 3.42.

Tuesday, stocks moved up slightly in Asia, lost 0.4% in Europe but gained 0.6% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. Precious metals rose 1% while their miners advanced twice that amount.

Wednesday, stocks rose 0,7% Europe, but fell slightly in Asia and in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. Precious metals gained about 2%. The NASDAQ closed below 12,000. The S&P 500 index ended below 4100. IBM closed beneath its 130 benchmark. The news for the day centered around a stubbornly high CPI number.

Thursday, stocks rose slightly in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, 0.8% and in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The VIX moved down 7% to close at 17.80. Precious metals rose about 1% while their miners advanced about three times that amount. The NASDAQ closed above 12,000 while the S&P 500 index ended above 4100.

Friday, stocks gained 0.7% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe but fell slightly in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield advanced 2% to close at 3.52. Precious metals and their miners fell about 2%. Bitcoin moved up above 30,000 and gold advanced farther above $2000/oz. Finally, the Federal Reserve balance sheet declined 17B to 8.61T.
