Stocks Grind Relentlessly Higher

Monday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia and 0.7% in Europe and in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 each posted record high closes.

Tuesday, stocks closed unchanged in Asia, roses slightly in Europe, and gained 0.4% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to close at 1.55. Precious metals fell 1%. The Dow closed above its 36,000 benchmark. The Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 each posted record high closes.

Wednesday, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia but rose 0.3% in Europe and 0.6% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The VIX fell 6% to close at 15.10. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to close at 1.58. Precious metals fell 1%. Apple closed above its 150 benchmark. The FOMC began tapering their QE as expected. The Dow, NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE each logged a record high close.

Thursday, stocks rose 0.8% in Asia and 0.3% in Europe but declined slightly in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 3% to close at 1.52. Precious metals gained 1%. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 each registered record high closes.

Friday, stocks fell 0.5% in Asia, closed unchanged in Europe, and gained 0.3% in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The VIX rose 7% to close at 16.54. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 4% to close at 1.46. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners rose about three times that amount. The Dow, NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE again each posted record high closes.
