NASDAQ Shines with Daily Record High Closes

Monday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, closed little changed in Europe, and gained 0.3% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. Since the Dow and NYSE closed positive, each logged another record closing high. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 also closed at record highs.

Tuesday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia, 0.7% in Europe but closed little changed in the U.S. on 13B shares traded. The VIX moved up 5% to close at 15.98. Precious metals gained about 1%.
A marginal positive close gave the Dow Jones Industial Average another record high close. NASDAQ and S&P 500 again also closed at record highs.

Wednesday, stocks fell 1.0% in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, and 1.3% in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The VIX gained 6% to close at 16.98. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 6% to close at 1.53. Precious metals retreated about 1%. The NASDAQ logged another consecutive record high close.

Thursday, stocks fell slightly in Asia but rose slightly in Europe and gained 0.9% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to close at 1.57. Apple closed above its 150 benchmark as traded an upbeat earnings report. Precious metals miners fell 2% as disappointing earnings from Newmont dragged the miners down. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 each closed at record highs.

Friday, stocks fell 0.7% in Asia, rose slightly in Europe, but fell 0.4% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners declined three times that amount. Dow Jones Industrials, NASDAQ, S&P 500 each registered another record high close.
