Stocks Stall Without Stimulus

Monday, stocks fell 0.4% in Asia, slightly in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on extremely high volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 4% to close at 0.93. Precious metals and their miners shot up about 5%. The NASDAQ ended the day up and logged another record high close.

Tuesday, stocks in Asia and Europe closed unchanged. In the U.S., they gained 0.3% on very high volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to close at 0.91. Precious metals miners gained 1%. The S&P closed above the 3700 benchmark and NASDAQ ended the day up and both logged another record high close.

Wednesday, stocks gained 0.8% in Asia, moved up slightly in Europe and fell slightly in the U.S. on massive volume. The VXO rose 7% to close at 21.57. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to close at 0.93. Precious metals gained 4% while their miners lost 3%.

Thursday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, fell 0.3% in Europe, and closed little changed in the U.S. on very high volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 3% to close at 0.91. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day just below the 30,000 benchmark.

Friday, stocks in Asia gained 0.4%, in Europe lost 0.8% and fell 0.3% in the U.S. on very high volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to close at 0.89. A modest positive close for the Dow Jones Industrial Average lifted it to end the week back above the 30,000 benchmark.
