Trumps Catch the Flu

Monday, stocks rose 1.2% in Asia, 2.2% in Europe, and 1.5% in the U.S. on strong volume. Precious metals and their miners gained 1%. IBM closed above its 120 benchmark.

Tuesday, stocks closed little changed in Asia, fell 0.3% in Europe, and gained 1.5% in the U.S. on strong volume. Precious metals and their miners gained 1%.

Wednesday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia, lost 0.3% in Europe, and gained 0.4% in the U.S. on very high volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield moved up 5% to close at 0.68. Precious metals fell 2%.

Thursday, stocks in Asia gained 0.3%, were up slightly in Europe and the U.S. on high volume. Precious metals rose 2%.

Friday, stocks fell 0.6% in Asia but gained slightly in Europe and in the U.S. on high volume. The VXO moved up 6% to close at 31.00 perhaps in reaction to the president and first lady testing positive for the Wuhan Flu.
