Bond Yields Invert

Monday, stocks closed unchanged again in Asia, fell 0.3% in Europe, and dropped 1.3% in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO rose 15% to close at 22.53. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate plummeted another 5% to close at 1.64. The Dow again slipped back to close below the 26,000 level.

Tuesday, stocks fell 1% in Asia but rose 0.6% in Europe and 1.1% in the U.S. as President Trump backed off a bit on trade restrictions with China. Volume was strong. The VXO closed down 15% to end at 19.06. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate moved up 3% to close at 1.68. The Dow, S&P, and NASDAQ each recaptured respective benchmarks 26,000, 2900, and 8000 respectively. Precious metals slumped 1% while their miners declined twice that amount.

Wednesday, stocks in Asia gained 0.3% while in Europe they lost 1.3% and in the U.S. the dropped 2.8% on strong volume. The VXO shot up 28% to close at 24.52. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate fell 6% to close at 1.58. The Dow, S&P, and NASDAQ each relinquished respective benchmarks 26,000, 2900, and 8000 respectively. Precious metals slumped 1% while their miners declined twice that amount. Cryptocurrencies also dropped about 15%.

Thursday, stocks fell in Asia 0.7% and in Europe and the U.S. 0.3% on moderate volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate fell 3% to close at 1.53. Friday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia, 1.2% in Europe, and shot up 1.4% in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO dropped 15% to close at 20.53.
