Tuesday, stocks rose slightly in Asia, gained 0.4% in Europe but closed little changed in the U.S. on moderate volume. The real action for the day was in cryptocurrencies. Starting at midnight they shot up 15% by market closing time.
Wednesday, stocks gained 0.9% in Asia, 0.8% in Europe, but closed little changed in the U.S. on strong volume.
Thursday, stocks closed little changed in Asia, fell slightly in Europe, and gained 0.3% in the U.S. on moderate volume. Again the big action of the day was in cryptocurrencies with a 10% tumble. Friday, stocks in Asia and Europe closed up slightly. In the U.S., they rose 0.5% on moderate volume. The VXO fell 9% to close at 12.25.
