Apple Gyrates around 200

Monday, stocks around the world closed little changed. Trading volume in the U.S. was moderate. Apple closed above the 200 benchmark.

Tuesday, stocks in Asia gained 0.4% while stocks fell 0.4% in Europe and 0.7% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO moved up 9% to close at 13.53. Apple slid back below the 200 benchmark.

Wednesday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, rose slightly in Europe, and gained 0.3% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO fell 5% to close at 12.82. Apple closed back above the 200 benchmark as the FOMC released the rather bland minutes from the previous meeting.

Thursday, stocks in Asia fell 0.4% but closed unchanged in Europe and the U.S. on moderate volume. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners lost twice that amount. Cryptocurrencies lost about 10%. Apple slid to close below the 200 benchmark again.

Friday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia, closed little changed in Europe, and rose 0.6% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO fell 8% to close at 11.74. The S&P 500 index closed above the 2900 level for the first time in about six months.
