Tuesday, stocks fell slightly in Asia and Europe. In the U.S., they rose slightly on strong volume. Precious metals gained 2% while their miners moved up twice that amount.
Wednesday, stocks gained 1% in Asia, 0.6% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on strong volume. The VXO fell 5% to close at 14.32. The FOMC minutes released provided little news to fuel the current rally.
Thursday, stocks gained slightly in Asia, fell 0.3% in Europe, and lost 0.4% in the U.S. on strong volume. Precious metals fell 1% while their miners lost twice that amount. Friday, stocks rose in Asia 0.3%, slightly in Europe, and 0.6% in the U.S. on strong volume. The VXO fell 7% to close at 13.87. The gain pushed the Dow back above the 26,000 benchmark to end the week.
