Monday, stocks gained 0.9% in Asia, rose slightly in Europe, but closed little changed in the U.S. on strong volume. Tuesday, stocks fell 0.6% in Asia, gained 0.3% in Europe, but closed little changed in the U.S on strong volume — despite India bombing Pakistan

Wednesday, stocks in Europe fell 0.3%. In Asia and in the U.S. they closed unchanged on strong volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate fell 2% to close at 2.69. Precious metals dropped 1% while their miners lost twice that amount. The Dow Jones Industrial Average again fell below the 26,000 benchmark to end the session.

Thursday, stocks closed little changed in Asia and fell 0.3% in Europe and 0.4% in the U.S. on high volume. Friday, stocks closed little changed in Asia, while in Europe and the U.S. they gained 0.4% on high volume. The VXO dropped 11% to close at 12.88 as the Dow closed above its 26,000 benchmark and the S&P 500 index finally managed a close above the 2800 level. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate gained 2% to close at 2.76 while precious metals and their miners lost 2%.
