Stocks Log Record Highs

Monday, stocks fell 1.1% in Asia, ended little changed in Europe, and rose 0.5% in the U.S. on 21B shares traded. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners lost 2%. The Dow ended above 52,000 to record another record closing high. The NYSE also posted a record closing high.

Tuesday, stocks gained 0.8% in Asia and 0.9% in Europe but ended up just slightly in the U.S. on 21B shares traded. The VIX fell 7% to close at 16.45. Precious metals gained The Dow and NYSE indices each notched record closing highs. IBM ended above $280.

Wednesday, stocks declined 0.3% in Asia, 0.5% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on 20B shares traded. Apple closed above 290.

Thursday, stocks lost 2.2% in Asia but gained 1.4% in Europe, and 0.9% in the U.S. on 20B shares traded. Precious metals gained 2% and their miners rose twice that amount. The NASDAQ ended below 26,000. The Dow logged another record closing high.

Friday, stocks rose 2.5% in Asia and 0.7% in Europe. Markets were closed in the U.S. to celebrate Independence Day.
