FOMC Cheers Investors

Monday, stocks ended unchanged in Europe but gained 0.7% in Asia and 0.4% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. Apple ended above its 170 benchmark.

Tuesday, stocks rose 0.5% in Asia but fell 0.7% in Europe and 1.3% in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The VIX moved up 7% to end at 15.65. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to end at 4.69. Precious metals fell 2% and their miners lost 5% that amount. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended below 38,000,

Wednesday, stocks fell 0.7% in Asia but declined just slightly in Europe and the U.S. on 12B shares traded.  The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to end at 4.60. Precious metals gained about 1% as actions and words from the FOMC gave investors hope for rate cuts this year.

Thursday, fell slightly in Europe, but rose 1.4% in Asia and 0.7% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The VIX fell 5% to end at 14.68. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended below 38,000, Apple closed above the 170 benchmark.

Friday, stocks dropped 1% in Asia but gained 1.2% in Europe, and 0.6% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The VIX fell 8% to end at 13.49.The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to end at 4.50. Apple closed above the 180 level as China market loss fears diminished. Finally, the Federal Reserve balance sheet declined 40B to 7.36T.
