CPI Numbers Spark Rally

Monday, stocks gained 0.8% in Asia and Europe but ended little changed in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. 
     
Tuesday, stocks rose slightly in Asia but gained 1.1% in Europe, and 2.1% in the U.S. on 13B shares traded. on 10B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield declined 4% to end at 4.44. Precious metals gained 2% and their miners advanced 5%. The NASDAQ closed above the 14,000 level. IBM ended above its 150 benchmark. Slightly positive numbers from the CPI report sparked the rally. 
 
Wednesday, stocks shot up 3% in Asia and advanced 0.4% in Europe but ended little changed in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to end at 4.54. The S&P 500 index closed above its 4500 benchmark.

Thursday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, 0.6% in Europe, and 0.3% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield declined 2% to end at 4.44. Precious metals gained 1%. 

Friday, stocks closed little changed in Asia but gained 1.0% in Europe and 0.6% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. Finally, the Federal Reserve balance sheet declined 46B to 7.81T.
