Stocks Slide

Monday, stocks in Asia gained 0.3%, in Europe fell slightly, and in the U.S. gained 0.4% on 11B shares traded. The VIX rose 6% to close at 18.76. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield gained 2% to close at 1.48. The NASDAQ  closed below its 15,000 benchmark.

Tuesday, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia, 2.1% in Europe, and 1.6% in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The VIX shot up 24% to close at 23.25 swinging to the fear area. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to close at 1.53. Precious metals and their miners fell 1%. The S&P 500 Index fell below its 4400 benchmark.

Wednesday, stocks fell 1.5% in Asia, rose 0.7% in Europe, and closed up slightly in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners lost 2%.

Thursday, stocks fell slightly in Asia and Europe but lost 1.2% in the U.S. on 13B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners gained 2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed below its 34,000 benchmark.

Friday, stocks fell 0.9% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe but rose 1.1% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The VIX fell 9% to close at 21.15. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 4% to close at 1.46. IBM jumped up 3% to close above its 140 benchmark.
