Small Caps Lead Stocks Higher

Monday, stocks gained 1.4% in Asia, 0.7% in Europe, and 0.8% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded.
The VXO dropped 14% to close at 14.23. Precious metals shot up 2% and their miners climbed about twice that amount. The S&P 500 Index logged another record high close.

Tuesday, stocks in Asia powered 2.8% higher, were unchanged in Europe, and gained 0.4% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to close at 1.29. The NASDAQ closed above its 15,000 benchmark. The S&P 500 Index logged another record high close.

Wednesday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia, were little changed in Europe but lost 0.7% in the U.S. on 8B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to close at 1.29. The S&P 500 Index logged another record high close.

Thursday, stocks fell 0.5% in Asia, 0.3% in Europe and 0.7% in the U.S. on 8B shares traded. The VXO gained 14% to close at 16.17. Precious metals fell 1%.

Friday, stocks fell slightly in Asia but rose 0.4% in Europe, and 0.9% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. The VXO fell 15% to close at 13.82. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to close at 1.31. The S&P 500 Index and NASDAQ closed above their respective 4500 and 15,000 benchmarks. The NASDAQ registered a closing high as also did the S&P 500. For the week, small cap stocks gained 5% while the NASDAQ gained nearly 3%.
