Thursday, stocks fell 0.5% in Asia, 0.3% in Europe and 0.7% in the U.S. on 8B shares traded. The VXO gained 14% to close at 16.17. Precious metals fell 1%.
Friday, stocks fell slightly in Asia but rose 0.4% in Europe, and 0.9% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. The VXO fell 15% to close at 13.82. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to close at 1.31. The S&P 500 Index and NASDAQ closed above their respective 4500 and 15,000 benchmarks. The NASDAQ registered a closing high as also did the S&P 500. For the week, small cap stocks gained 5% while the NASDAQ gained nearly 3%.
