Cryptocurrencies Falter

Monday, stocks closed unchanged in Asia but fell 0.3% in Europe and 0.5% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. The VXO moved up 7% to close at 16.51. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to close at 1.60. 

Tuesday, stocks fell 0.7% in Asia, 1.9% in Europe, and 1.0% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. The VXO gained 8% to close at 17.90. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to close at 1.56. 

Wednesday, stocks in Asia fell 1.4% but gained 0.8% in Europe and 1.1% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. The VXO declined 7% to close at 16.56. Precious metals and their miners gained 2%. IBM had a second consecutive day of 4% gains to move it above its 140 benchmark. The NYSE moved above its 14,000 benchmark. 

Thursday, stocks gained 1.1% in Asia and 0.7% in Europe but lost 0.6% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The VXO moved up 12% to close at 18.47. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners lost twice that amount. NASDAQ declined below its 14,000 benchmark.

Friday, stocks rose 0.7% in Asia, fell slightly in Europe and jumped up 1.3% in the U.S. on 9B shares traded. The VXO fell 10% to close at 16.70. The NASDAQ closed back above its 14,000 benchmark, and the NYSE managed to set a new record close. For the week, major cryptos fell around 20% with the exception of Ethereum which held its own.
