Record-High Syndrome Resumes

Monday, stocks rose 1% in Europe, 0.7% in Asia, and the U.S. on light volume. The VXO fell 11% to close at 11.82 as fear withered. The record-high syndrome resumed with the Dow, S&P 500, NASDAQ, and NYSE indices all logging record closing highs.

Tuesday, stocks rose 0.3% in Asia, were unchanged in Europe, and rose slightly in the U.S. on strong volume. The four major stock indices again posted record closing highs. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners rose twice that amount.

Wednesday, stocks rose worldwide: 0.6% in Asia, 0.3% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on low volume as it was the day before Thanksgiving. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield gained 2% to close at 1.77. The record closing high syndrome continued for the major indices.

Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia and slightly in Europe. Markets were closed in the U.S. Friday, stocks fell worldwide: 1.2% in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, and 0.5% in the U.S. on extremely low volume due to holiday weekend and shortened trading day. The VXO rose 12% to close at 13.22. Precious metals rose 1% and their miners moved up twice that amount.
