More Record Highs for Stocks

Monday, stocks closed little changed in Asia and Europe, but gained 0.8% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO fell 7% to close at 10.18. This pushed major indices (except the Dow) into record territory with the NASDAQ closing above 8000, the Dow above 26,000, the S&P knocking on the door of 2900, and the NYSE above 13,000 as President Trump secured a NAFTA replacement with Mexico.

Tuesday, stocks in Asia rose 0.5%, closed little changed in Europe and the U.S. on light volume. Precious metals miners fell 3%. S&P and NASDAQ closed up slightly and thereby logged new recored closing highs.

Wednesday, stocks in Asia closed little changed, gained 0.3% in Europe, and rose 0.4% in the U.S. on light volume. This resulted in more record closing highs for S&P, NASDAQ, and NYSE. Thursday, stocks fell in Europe 0.3% and in Asia and the U.S. 0.4% on moderate volume. The VXO moved up 9% to close at 11.68. Friday, stocks fell 0.7% in Asia, 0.9% in Europe, and slightly in the U.S. on low volume.
