Oil Slides While Stocks Soar

 

Monday, stocks rose in Asia 0.5%, but in Europe and the U.S. closed nearly unchanged on low volume. But never fear, it was still enough to raise major indices to new all-time highs. Here’s an interesting article analyzing the best time of the month to own stocks.

Tuesday, stocks moved little in Asia and the U.S and ticked up slightly in Europe. Volume on the low end of moderate was a bit surprising given the holiday-shortened week. Oil fell hard, once again dropping below $75 per barrel.

Wednesday, stocks rose in Asia 0.4%, went nowhere in Europe, and rose slightly in the U.S. on low volume.True to form, stock markets in Asia and Europe were paralyzed as the U.S. market was closed for Thanksgiving Day. Stocks in Asia closed nearly unchanged while those in Europe were up just slightly for the day.

Friday, stocks in Asia dropped slightly, were unchanged in Europe, and fell 0.8% in the U.S. on very low volume. The VXO jumped up 17% to close at 12.71 and oil crashed to close at $66.26 per barrel. For the week, stocks moved little. For the month, they pushed another 2.5% higher.
