Wednesday, stocks ended little changed in Asia and Europe but gained 1.1% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners moved up four times that amount. Apple and IBM ended above their 170 and 190 benchmarks respectively. The Dow, S&P 500, and NYSE notched record closing highs.
Thursday, stocks lost 0.5% in Asia but rose slightly in Europe, and 0.3% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. Precious metals rose 1% and miners moved up twice that amount. Dow S&P 500 and NYSE again recorded record closing highs.
Friday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia but were little changed in Europe. Markets were closed in the U.S. for Good Friday. Finally, the Federal Reserve balance sheet declined 29B to 7.84T.
