Thursday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia, 0.6% in Europe, but closed unchanged in the U.S. on light volume. Precious metals gained 1%. Their miners moved up three times that amount.
Friday, stocks in Asia closed little changed but rose slightly in Europe and the U.S. on light volume. The VXO fell 8% to close at 12.60. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to close at 1.80.
