Monday, stocks in Asia and Europe closed little changed. In the U.S., they gained 0.4% on moderate volume. Apple retook the 170 benchmark in a wave of FAANG buying as the VXO continued its slide.
Tuesday, stocks rose 0.5% in Asia, 1.5% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on strong volume. Wednesday, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia, closed little changed in Europe, and fell slightly in the U.S. on moderate volume. Precious metals fell 1% while their miners lost twice that amount.
Thursday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, dropped 1.4% in Europe, and slid 0.8% in the U.S. on strong volume. Less than wonderful news on the trade talks with China weighed on stocks.
The VXO moved up 10% to close at 16.79 while the 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate fell 2% to close at 2.65. Friday, stocks fell in Asia 0.9% lost 0.5% in Europe but closed little changed in the U.S. on moderate volume while cryptocurrencies jumped up more than 10% for the day.
