Monday, stocks in Asia closed down 0.4%, in Europe up slightly, and change little in the U.S. on moderate volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield fell 2%, to close at 2.22 while precious metals and miners gained 2% as market leader, Apple faltered. This brought the S&P 500 close below the 2500 mark.

Tuesday, stocks were again down in Asia. This time they fell 0.7%. In Europe and the U.S., they closed nearly unchanged on low volume. Wednesday, stocks fell 0.5% in Asia, but rose 0.4% in Europe and 0.3% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield shot up 4%, to close at 2.31.

Thursday, stocks closed little changed in Asia and gained slightly in Europe and the U.S. on low volume. The S&P 500 Index closed at another record high. Friday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, and 0.3% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The record-high close syndrome for the S&P 500 continued while the NASDAQ joined the party to end the month on a high note. The VXO closed below 8 — indicating virtually fearless investor sentiment.
