Monday, stocks fell slightly in Asia and rose slightly in Europe. Markets closed in the U.S. for Presidents’ Day.

Tuesday, stocks ended down slightly in Asia, up 0.5% in Europe, and little changed in the U.S. on 18B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners plummeted 4%. Apple closed above its 260 benchmark while IBM ended below that same level.

Wednesday, stocks rose slightly in Asia, ended little changed in Europe, and advanced 0.4% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. The VIX fell 3% to close at 19.62 and shift back to the greed zone. Precious metals advanced 4% and their miners rose 2%. IBM closed above 260. The FOMC notes indicate a divided, uncertain Fed.

Thursday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia and lost 0.6% in Europe but ended little changed in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. The VIX rose 3% to end at 20.23 and move back to the fear zone. Precious metals rose 1% and their miners gained twice that amount. IBM closed below 260.

Friday, stocks fell 0.5% in Asia but rose 0.8% in Europe and 0.4% in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. The VIX fell 6% to end at 19.09 and pivot to the greed zonePrecious metals shot up 5% while their miners gained 2%.
