Silver Climbs Higher

Monday, stocks rose 0.5% in Asia, 0.3% in Europe, and slightly in the U.S. on 18B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners gained 3%. Apple and IBM ended above their 260 and 310 benchmarks.

Tuesday, stocks gained 1.1% in Asia, ended little changed in Europe, declined slightly in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. The VIX rose 6% to end at 15.98. Precious metals and their miners rose 1%. IBM dropped below 310.

Wednesday, stocks rose 0.7% in Asia, advanced slightly in Europe, and climbed 0.3% in the U.S. on 23B shares traded. Precious metals shot up 4% on the strength of the silver rally. The VIX moved up 5% to end at 16.75. Apple closed below 260.

Thursday, stocks gained slightly in Asia and advanced 0.4% in Europe and the U.S. on 20B shares traded. The VIX fell 5% to close at 15.84. Precious metals fell 1% but their miners rose 2%. IBM ended below 300.

Friday, stocks rose 0.6% in Asia but ended unchanged in Europe and the U.S. on 19B shares traded. Precious metals fell 2%. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to end at 4.23. For the week, silver gained another 11%.
