Stocks Post Record Highs

Monday, stocks rose 2.2% in Asia, 1.0% in Europe, and 0.9% in the U.S. on 20B shares traded. Precious metals gained 4% and their miners rose 3%. S&P 500 closed above its 6900 benchmark. Apple ended below 270. The Dow, S&P 500, and NYSE each logged a record closing high.

Tuesday, stocks gained 1.3% in Asia, 0.6% in Europe, and 0.6% in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. Precious metals gained 3% and their miners rose 4%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended above its 49.000 benchmark. IBM ended above 300. The Dow, S&P 500, and NYSE each logged a record closing high.

Wednesday, stocks closed little changed in Europe but fell 0.9% in Asia and 1.0% in the U.S. on 18B shares traded. Precious metals fell 2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended below its 49.000 benchmark. Apple closed below 260. IBM ended below 300.

Thursday, stocks fell 1.0% in Asia and declined slightly in Europe but rose 0.7% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. Precious metals fell 1%. Apple closed below its 260 level while IBM ended above 300.

Friday, stocks ended unchanged in Asia but rose 1.0% in Europe, and 0.5% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. The VIX fell 6% to close at 15.90. Precious metals gained 2% The Dow, S&P 500, and NYSE each logged a record closing high.
