Stocks Drift as Silver Soars

Monday, stocks ended little changed in Asia but fell slightly in Europe and declined 0.7% in the U.S. on 16B shares traded. The VIX rose 5% to close at 17.24. Precious metals gained 1%. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield moved up 2% to end at 4.10. Apple closed above its 280 benchmark.

Tuesday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia, rose slightly in Europe, and little changed in the U.S. on 16B shares traded.

Thursday, stocks advanced 1.1% in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, and ended up slightly in the U.S. on 16B shares traded. Precious metals fell 1%. The NYSE posted a record high close.

Friday, stocks ended little changed in Asia, unchanged in Europe, and down slightly in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. Precious metals gained about 1%. Apple fell to close below its 280 benchmark.
