Fireworks Continue

Saturday night word came in that the U.S. destroyed the Iranian nuclear enrichment facility.

Monday, stocks fell 0.6% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe but rose 0.5% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners advanced three times that amount. The Dow and S&P 500 indices ended above their respective 44,000 and 6200 levels.  IBM closed above 290. The NASDAQ , S&P 500, and NYSE indices each posted another record high close.

Tuesday, stocks gained 0.5% in Asia but declined slightly in Europe and ended little changed in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. Precious metals gained about 1%. The S&P 500 closed below the 6200 benchmark. The NYSE posted another record high close.

Wednesday, stocks declined slightly in Asia but advanced 0.3% in Europe and the U.S. on 17B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners gained 1%. The S&P 500 closed above the 6200 benchmark. The NASDAQ , S&P 500, and NYSE each posted another record high close.  Apple ended above 210 while IBM closed below 290.

Thursday, stocks rose slightly in Asia, gained 0.4% in Europe, and advanced 0.6% in the U.S. on 12B shares traded. The NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE each  posted another record high close. IBM closed above 290.

Friday, stocks lost 0.4% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe. Markets were closed in the U.S. in celebration of Independence Day. President Trump celebrated Independence Day by signing his signature omnibus legislation cutting taxes and supporting his priorities.
