Record Highs Persist on Strong Volume

Monday, stocks gained slightly in Asia but ended little changed in Europe and the U.S. on 20B shares traded. Precious metals gained 2% while their miners advanced twice that amount. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 indices each posted record closing highs.

Tuesday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, lost 0.4% in Europe but gained 0.7% in the U.S. on 20B shares traded. Precious metals gained 1% while their miners moved up about three times that amount. The S&P 500 index notched another record closing high.

Wednesday, stocks rose 2.8% in Asia, 1.1 in Europe, and 1.3% in the U.S. on 20B shares traded. The VIX fell 7% to ende at 15.37. Precious metals and their miners lost 1%. The Dow and NASDAQ closed above their respective 45,000 and 21,000 benchmarks. The Dow, NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE indices each posted record closing highs.

Thursday, stocks gained 0.7% in Asia and slightly in Europe but lost 0.3% in the U.S. on 21B shares traded. IBM cratered 8% on disappointing earnings to drop well below its 270 benchmark.  The NASDAQ and S&P 500 indices each posted record closing highs. The current administration continues to chip away at regulations regarding the CO2 hoax. Back when I was young, I took just a few vaccines. Today, the number of so-called vaccines required for kids is off the chart!

Friday, stocks fell 1.7% in Asia and 0.4% in Europe but rose 0.5% in the U.S. on 18B shares traded. Precious metals lost 2%. IBM below 260. NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE each ended the week at record closing highs.
