S&P 500 Ends above 6000

Monday, stocks fell 0.4% in Asia and declined slightly in Europe but gained 0.3% in the U.S. on 16B shares traded. Precious metals shot up nearly 4% and their miners advanced 6%.  IBM closed above its 260 benchmark.

Tuesday, stocks ended little changed in Asia, gained slightly in Europe, and rose 0.4% in the U.S. on 16B shares traded. Precious metals and their miners declined 1%.

Wednesday, stocks gained 1.1% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe but ended little changed in the U.S. on 15B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield fell 2% to end at 4.36.

Thursday, stocks rose 0.4% in Asia and advanced slightly in Europe and the U.S. on 18B shares traded.

Friday, stocks fell slightly in Asia and dropped 0.3% in Europe but rose 0.8% in the U.S. on 15B shares traded. The VIX fell 9% to end at 16.77. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 3% to end at 4.51. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners shed times that amount. The S&P 500 index ended the week above 6000.
