Stocks Notch Record Closing Highs

Monday, stocks fell 1.5% in Asia and 0.3% in Europe but rose 0.7% in the U.S. on 19B shares traded. The VIX fell 4% to end at 19.83 and pivot back to greed territory. Precious metals gained about 1% and their miners advanced twice that amount. The S&P 500 and NYSE indices closed above their respective 6000 and 20,000 levels.

Tuesday, stocks gained 3% in Asia, 1.4% in Europe, and 0.7% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. The VIX fell 12% to close at 17.48. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners lost twice that amount. The Dow ended above its 43,000 benchmark.

Wednesday, stocks rose 0.8% in Asia but fell 0.8% in Europe and 0.6% in the U.S. on 16B shares traded. Precious metals gained about 1% The Dow ended below its 43,000 benchmark. Apple closed above 200.

Thursday, stocks ended unchanged in Europe but closed up 1.0% in Asia and 0.8% in the U.S. on 17B shares traded. The Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 indices closed above their respective 43,000, 20,000, and 6100 levels while Apple ended below 200. Both The NASDAQ and S&P 500 notched record closing highs.

Friday, stocks gained 0.5% in Asia, 1.2% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on 24B shares traded. Precious metals fell 2% while their miners lost twice that amount.
