Fireworks on Wall Street

Monday, stocks gained slightly in Asia, rose 0.3% in Europe, and fell 0.4% in the U.S. on 11B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield advanced 3% to end at 4.18. Precious metals rose about 1%. The NYSE closed below its 18,000 benchmark. The NASDAQ registered a record closing high.

Tuesday, stocks ended little changed in Asia, fell 0.4% in Europe, but rose 0.4% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. S&P 500 ended above 5500 at a new closing high. The NASDAQ and NYSE closed above 18,000 and strangely within 59 cents of each otherThe NASDAQ registered a record closing high. Apple closed above its 220 benchmark.

Thursday, stocks advanced 1.6% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe. Markets were closed in the U.S. in observance of Independence Day.

Friday, stocks fell slightly in Asia and Europe and ended unchanged in the U.S. on 10B shares traded.  The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield declined 2% to end at 4.27. Precious metals rose 2%. and their miners gained 3%. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 indices each registered a record closing high. For the week, cryptocurrencies fell about 10%. Finally, the Federal Reserve balance sheet declined 9B to 7.22T.
