Tuesday, stocks shot up 2.6% in Asia, 3.2% in Europe, and 3.4% in the U.S. on 13B shares traded. Precious metals advanced 1% and their miners rose three times that amount. The Dow, NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE indices ended above 30,000, 11,000, 3700, and 14,000 respectively.
Wednesday, stocks gained 3% in Asia and 0.9% in Europe but lost 0.4% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 4% to close at 3.76. Precious metals declined 1%.
Thursday, stocks ended unchanged in Asia, fell 0.7% in Europe, and dropped 1.2% in the U.S. 11B shares traded. The VIX moved up 7% to close at 30.52. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond yield rose 2% to close at 3.83. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed below 30,000.
Friday, stocks declined 1.4% in Asia, 1.2% in Europe, and 2.1% in the U.S. on 10B shares traded. Precious metals lost 1% while their miners gave back five times that amount. The NASDAQ, S&P 500, and NYSE indices closed below their respective 11,000, 3700, and 14,000 benchmarks. Finally, the Federal Reserve balance sheet declined 37B to 8.76T.
