Stocks Light Up the Sky

Monday, stocks gained 1% in Asia, 0.8% in Europe, and 0.6% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO plummeted 16% to close at 13.53. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate rose 2% to close at 2.03. Precious metals fell 1% and their miners gave up four times that amount. Apple closed above 200 per share.

Tuesday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia, 0.4% in Europe, and slightly in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO fell 10% to close at 12.13. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate fell 3% to close at 1.98. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners moved back up four times that amount. IBM closed above 140 per share.

Wednesday, stocks closed down 0.3% in Asia, up 0.8% in Europe, and up 0.7% in the U.S. on very low volume as the stock market closed early for the Independence Day holiday. Fireworks shot though major indices as they logged all-time closing highs. Fear continued to wither as confidence soared.

Thursday, stocks rose 0.4% in Asia and closed little changed in Europe. Markets were closed in the U.S. for the Independence Day holiday. Friday, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia, 0.7% in Europe, and slightly in the U.S. on low volume. The VXO moved up 5% ot close at 12.39. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate shot up 5% to close at 2.05.
