Monday, stocks fell in Asia 0.4%, 0.3% in Europe and the U.S. on moderate volume. Tuesday, stocks closed down slightly in Asia, up 0.5% in Europe, and up 0.8% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO fell 10% to close at 15.93.
Wednesday, stocks in Asia and Europe closed little changed. In the U.S., stocks fell 0.4% on moderate volume. Qualcomm fell 11% after a court ruling stating that it violated anti-trust laws. Precious metals miners lost 2%. The FOMC meeting minutes revealed little new regarding the Fed stance.
Thursday, stocks fell 1.4% in Europe and 1.2% in Asia and the U.S. on strong volume. The VXO rose 15% to close at 18.50. Apple closed below its 180 benchmark and the 10-Year U.S. Treasury bond rate fell 4% to close at 2.30. Friday, stocks in the U.S. gained 0.5% on strong volume.
