Monday, stocks in Asia and Europe gained 0.4% and 0.7% in the U.S. on high volume. The VXO fell 11% to close at 28.18. Precious metals miners gained 2% while the 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield fell 2% to close at 2.69.
Tuesday, markets were closed for New Year’s Day. Wednesday, stocks fell 1% in Asia but closed little changed in Europe and the U.S. on strong volume. The VXO fell 11% to close at 25.14 while cryptocurrencies moved up 10%.
Thursday, stocks in Asia closed little changed, fell 0.8% in Europe, and dropped 1.7% the U.S. on high volume in response to Apple’s lowered guidance statement. The Dow closed below 23,000 and the S&P 2500. Apple shed 9% to close below 150. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield plummeted 4% to close at 2.56.
Friday, stocks rose in Asia 0.3%, in Europe 2.8%, and in the U.S. 3.1% on high volume. The VXO fell 14% to close at 24.38. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield shot up 4% to close at 2.66. The Dow moved back above 23,000 and the S&P above 2500 after dovish words from Fed chair Powell.
