Monday, stocks fell 1.6% in Asia, 1.7% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on high volume. The VXO fell 10% to close at 24.50 while The NASDAQ recaptured 7000 by the close and IBM closed back above its 120 benchmark. Tuesday, stocks fell 0.3% in Asia, gained 1.5% in Europe, and fell slightly in the U.S. on high volume.
Wednesday, stocks jumped up 1.5% in Asia, 1.7% in Europe, and 0.7% in the U.S. on high volume. Precious metals miners gained 2%. Thursday, stocks gained 0.6% in Asia but closed little changed in Europe and the U.S. on high volume.
Friday, stocks fell 1.8% in Asia, 0.6% in Europe, and 1.5% in the U.S. on strong volume. The VXO rose 6% to close at 23.95. The S&P 500 Index closed just below the 2600 benchmark, NASDAQ closed below 7000, and IBM again ended the day beneath the 120 mark. While precious metals miners fell about 2%, WPM, a precious metals streamer, gained 14% after resolving a tax issue with the government of Canada. For the week, cryptocurrencies fell another 10%.
