Monday, stocks in Asia fell 0.8%, gained 0.4% in Europe, and closed little changed in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO fell 9% to close at 12.47 while precious metals miners lost 2%. Tuesday, stocks in Asia and Europe closed little changed. In the U.S., they gained slightly on moderate volume. The VXO fell 7% to close at 11.57.
Wednesday, stocks in Asia closed nearly unchanged. In Europe they rose 0.5% and in the U.S. they gained 0.3% on strong volume. Precious metals gained 1% while their miners moved up three times that amount.
Thursday, stocks gained 1.2% in Asia, closed little changed in Europe, and gained 0.3% in the U.S. on moderate volume. It was a happy day for breaking above benchmarks as the Dow, S&P, NASDAQ, and NYSE moved above 26,000, 2900, 8000, and 13,000 respectively. Friday, stocks gained 1.2% in Asia and 0.4% in Europe. In the U.S., stocks closed little changed on moderate volume.
