Monday, stocks in Asia shot up 1.75% while in Europe they gained slightly and in the U.S. they fell slightly on moderate volume. Tuesday, stocks gained 0.5% in Asia, fell 1% in Europe, and fell 0.5% in the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO rose 5% to close at 14.84.
Wednesday, stocks fell in Asia 0.3%, closed little changed in Europe, and lost 0.5% in the U.S. on moderate volume. Cryptocurrencies declined about 10% as fears increase of further adverse government actions. Thursday, stocks closed nearly unchanged in Asia, gained 0.5% in Europe, and fell slightly in the U.S. on moderate volume.
Friday, stocks fell 0.6% in Asia but gained 0.3% in Europe and the U.S. on volume consistent with quadruple witching day. The VXO fell 5% to close at 14.00 — nearly exactly where it ended a week earlier. All in all, it was a quiet week in the markets.
