Tuesday, stocks again gained 0.4% in Asia, fell 0.5% in Europe, and fell 1.2% in the U.S. on high volume. The VXO shot up 19% to close at 11.21. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield slid 2% to close at 2.44 while precious metals and their miners gained about 1%.
Wednesday, stocks fell in Asia 1.4%, in Europe 0.4%, and in the U.S. closed little changed on high volume. The VXO gained 6% to close at 11.85. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield rose 2% to close at 2.48. Thursday, stocks rose 0.8% in Europe while closing nearly unchanged in Asia and the U.S. on strong volume.
Friday, stocks gained 0.4% in Asia, fell slightly in Europe, and closed little changed in the U.S. on strong volume as the Obamacare replacement bill crashed and burned. The VXO gained 10% to close at 13.39. Investor fear transitioned from no fear a week ago to low fear as quantified by the VXO moving up 43% for the week.
