Tuesday, stocks climbed 0.3% in Asia and 0.5% in Europe, but closed little changed in the U.S. on low volume. Precious metals fell 1% while their miners slid 5%.
Wednesday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, and declined 0.3% in Europe and the U.S. on moderate volume. The VXO rose 8% to close at 12.15 and precious metals miners declined another 2%. Thursday, stocks in Asia rose slightly while they closed little changed in Europe and the U.S. on low volume. Precious metals gained 1% and their miners gained 4%.
Friday, stocks gained 0.3% in Asia, 2.1% in Europe, and 0.8% in the U.S. on low volume. The VXO fell 13% to close at the unsustainable level of 10.8. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield rose 2% to close at 1.60. For the second day in a row, precious metals rose 1% and their miners gained 4%.
