Monday, stocks gained 0.6% in Asia and the U.S. on low volume and closed nearly unchanged in Europe. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield gained 3% to close at 1.55.Tuesday stocks changed little in Asia, fell 0.8% in Europe, and lost 0.5% in the U.S. on low volume. The VXO gained 9% to close at 11.45.
Wednesday, stocks fell slightly in Asia, dropped 0.9% in Europe, but gained slightly in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO rose 5% to close at 10.91. The FOMC minutes were released after the past few days of jawboning aimed at putting a lid on stock prices.
Thursday, stocks moved little in Asia, rose 0.6% in Europe, and gained 0.4% in the U.S. on low volume. The VXO plunged 10% to close at an unsustainable 10.39. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield fell 2% to close at 1.54. Again Friday, stocks closed nearly unchanged in Asia, but they fell 0.7% In Europe the fell 0.3% in the U.S. on light volume. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield rose 3% to close at 1.58 while precious metals miners lost 2%.
