Monday, stocks in Asia lost 1%. Most of the European markets were closed for the Easter holiday. In the U.S., stocks fell 0.5% on very low volume. The VXO gained over 6% to close at 12.81. Tuesday, Asian stocks changed little, but those in Europe rose 1.3%, and in the U.S. 0.4% on low volume. VXO dropped nearly 8% to close at 11.81. Precious metals lost 2% while mining stocks fell nearly twice that amount.
Stocks rose 0.4% in Asia Wednesday but dropped 0.9% in Europe, and 1.2% in the U.S. on low moderate volume. The VXO rose over 15% to close at 13.63 as mining stocks were hammered another 4%. Thursday, stocks dropped 0.4% in Asia and 1% in Europe, but rose 0.5% in the U.S. on low volume. Friday, stocks dropped 0.3% in Asia, 1.6% in Europe, and 0.4% in the U.S. on low volume. The ten-year U.S. Treasury Bond rate dropped nearly 4% and almost 10% for the week to close at 1.69. Stocks dropped 0.9% for the week.
