Stocks Gained and Cryptos Soared in 2017

Christmas Day, stocks closed little changed in Asia. Markets were closed in Europe and the U.S. for the holiday. Tuesday, stocks closed down 0.5% in Asia but changed little in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO fell 7% to close at 7.83.

Wednesday, stocks rose slightly in Asia but closed little changed in Europe and the U.S. on light volume. The VXO rose 14% to close at 8.90. The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Bond yield fell 2%, to close at 2.41.

Thursday, stocks gained 0.5% in Asia, lost 0.3% in Europe, and gained slightly in the U.S. on low volume. The VXO fell 5% to close at 8.43. Friday, stocks rose 0.3% in Asia, changed little in Europe, and fell 0.3% in the U.S. on light volume. The VXO moved up 12% to close at 9.46. For the year, the S&P 500 Index gained 20%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25%, the NASDAQ rose 29%, and Bitcoin soared 1400%.
